This blog is a chronicle of my personal journey. Included here are the revelations, epiphanies, and innermost thoughts of a girl born and bred in the deep South wrapped in chocolate brown skin. So, no, mine are not all happy stories but they’re not all sad. They are stories of resilience and stubborn, resolute persistence to make something good; to be someone good, to have a voice. They are the stories that have sharpened and strengthened me – made me tough and made me breakable. Included are my mistakes and shortcomings, my strengths and triumphs.
My life-blood is on these pages.
It’s not that I dare presume that my story, my journey has been so significant that it merits public consideration. But I’ve noticed that there is a sisterhood quietly standing in the wings thinking that because of some past hurt or hurdle they are disqualified from center stage. It’s a lie. I think you’re probably just like me. And no matter your mistakes or shortcomings, no matter how many times we’ve blown it, we’re still here. We survived. The significance is that despite it all – all the victories and the shame — we grew. We learned. We transformed. We continue to rise.
So, girl, square your shoulders, straighten your crown, touch up your lipstick and let’s get it.
It’s 2020 – and your queendom awaits!
Again, welcome! Take a look around. Read some blog posts. Subscribe and don’t forget to leave me some sister love in the comments section (under the blog posts).
